Our History

  • City of Colorado Springs was founded Colorado City and Manitou 1871, El Paso Co., Colorado; DPL Spec. Collections CG4314.C5.1874.G56
  • Founded as the Colorado Springs Real Estate Exchange. First Board of Directors
  • Colorado Springs Real Estate Exchange was a Sub-division of the Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce. Prior to WW1, the idea of cooperative sales of real estate was practiced. An organization call "SERALTY" was operated by early members of the Colorado Springs Real Estate Exchange National Association of Realtors 1911 Conference, Denver, CO
  • In 1916, the National Association of Real Estate Exchange's name was changed to The National Association of Real Estate Boards (NAREB). That same year, the term "REALTOR," identifying real estate professionals who are members of the National Association and subscribers to its strict Code of Ethics, was devised by Charles N. Chadbourn, a past president of the Minneapolis Real Estate Board. REALTOR term is adopted
  • NAR’s Board of Directors accepted the newly-renamed Colorado Springs Real Estate Board’s charter as a member of the association. This is the official charter date for PPAR. First By-Laws
  • Approval of the three-way membership agreement with the Colorado Association of REALTORS® and the National Association of REALTORS® to work together for the benefit of the membership. Three-Way Agreement
  • Name changed from Colorado Springs Real Estate Board to the Colorado Springs Board of REALTORS®. First Real Estate Board of REALTORS® Logo
  • About 12 REALTOR® offices set up a system of cooperative listing and sales. The listings were typed on a single sheet of paper and mailed out Single sheet of paper
  • Approximately 20 offices working together created the Multiple Listing Exchange. Listings were printed on a hand mimeograph machine Mimeograph Machine
  • Amended its name, changing it to Colorado Springs Board of REALTORS®, Inc. MLS Book Sample
  • The board’s jurisdiction of all of El Paso County was changed to include the previously unassigned Teller County as well El Paso and Teller Counties Map
  • REALTOR® Services Corp, which provides the Pikes Peak Multiple Listing Service™ (PPMLS™) became a wholly-owned subsidiary of PPAR MLS Book Sample 2
  • Name changed from the Colorado Springs Board of REALTORS® to the Pikes Peak Association of REALTORS® (PPAR), with the justification that the new name better reflected the association’s jurisdiction and membership Old PPAR Logo
  • The last MLS book was printed and PPMLS™ moved to strictly online MLS Book Stack Sample PPAR.com February 2000
  • PPAR celebrated its 100th Anniversary with an event held at the Broadmoor. Commemorative statue was commissioned by artist Don Green.
