ETHICS AND CREDENTIALS
Understanding the Difference

Many people use the terms “real estate agent” and “REALTOR®” interchangeably — but they are not the same thing, and for anyone buying, selling, or renting property in the Pikes Peak Region, that difference matters.

REALTOR® vs. Real Estate Agent

A real estate agent is anyone who holds a valid real estate license. A REALTOR® is a licensed agent who is also a member of the National Association of REALTORS® and has voluntarily committed to the REALTOR® Code of Ethics — a set of professional standards that governs how they treat clients, other agents, and the public. The Code of Ethics sets a higher bar for fairness and integrity than any federal law requires, and it is the reason PPAR REALTORS® are trusted guides for buyers, sellers, and renters across Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak Region.

For agents, the distinction is equally important. REALTOR® membership through PPAR gives you professional credibility, access to the region’s most powerful real estate network, and the tools you need to serve your clients at the highest level.
