The primary market areas for the Pikes Peak Association of REALTORS® are El Paso and Teller counties.
Since these counties encompass a large geographical area, PPAR has developed a system to divide the counties into “bite-sized chunks” that run along county section lines.
A chunk is actually a section that is one square mile. It is identified on its top by a four-digit “Top” Map Coordinate number and on its side by a four-digit “Side” Map Coordinate number.
As an example, the PPAR office building located at 430 N. Tejon Street in Colorado Springs is located in a section with Top = 4455, and Side = 2677.
Consequently, a user may locate properties within El Paso and Teller counties through a number of search methods:
- MLS statistical “Areas” such as Central/CEN, Briargate/BRI, Falcon/FAL, etc.
- Zip Code
- Top and Side Map Coordinates
When searching by Top and Side Map Coordinates, simply give the system a minimum and maximum for each value. For example, to locate properties in a geographical area close to Fort Carson, search:
Map Coordinate – Top
Min: 4566
Max: 4888
Map Coordinate – Side
Min: 2889
Max: 3121
In the same manner, when you view a property on the Full Listing detail screen, the property’s Top and Side Coordinate numbers will be displayed, allowing you to easily locate the property on a MacVan map.
